Shiva - Cornwall, Connecticut, made in collaboration with Stonemason Justin Money
Hendon is a self-taught painter, mezzotint artist, three dimensional artist and rug designer. His work has appeared in one-, two- and three-person shows at the iO Gallery, the Cornwall Arts Collection, the Cornwall Free Library and the Artwell Gallery and in group shows at the Morgan-Lehman Gallery, the New Arts Gallery, the Silo Gallery and the Tremaine Gallery, among others. In 1999 he was artist-in residence at the Sanskriti Pratishthan outside of New Delhi. His work is in the permanent collection of the Mississippi Museum of Art.
He began painting in acrylics in the late 1980s. More recently, he has been doing mezzotint prints, encouraged by mezzotint artist Robert Kipniss, and three dimensional pieces. He also designs rugs which are woven for him by craftsman-weaver Margarito Jimenez Moncada in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He has studios in Cornwall, Connecticut and Vaison la Romaine in Provence. He has also painted in India, Mexico, Honduras and Cuba.
